Psychoeducation Videos

Research suggests that mental disorders are under-recognized and mental health services are under-utilized in the Asian American (AA) community. Treatment seeking barriers include stigma towards mental disorders within the AA culture, language difficulties, and a lack of mental health professionals well equipped to address the unique cultural needs of AA. In this original series of psychoeducation videos recorded in Chinese language, my goal is to use lay language and everyday case studies to explain the nature of psychopathologies, validate the struggles people commonly experience, and guide the understanding of psychotherapy. Community Outreach

Outside of my research and clinical work, I collaborate with institutions and work with community stakeholders, including international students at the University of North Carolina and Duke University, to promote mental health among vulnerable and underserved minority populations.

Research

Having been an international student/scholar who has dedicated over 10 years working with underserved communities, my research passion focuses on the adaptation and development of culture-embracing, evidence-based treatments for individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, including immigrants, international students, and ethnic/racial minorities. I have spearheaded the development of culturally sensitive assessment tools and treatments for underserved individuals in both domestic and international contexts through numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters.
